Easiest Way to Trigger Samples Live

Hey guys,

Was wondering, what's the easiest way to trigger samples live, I have a laptop, but I don't really want to use it live and keep it in the studio.

So what's the best way to trigger samples live without a laptop, and are there any options which allow me to trigger the samples via a foot controller as well?

Many thanks guys.

Get a sampler and a midi foot controller that outputs note #'s, a Fartar midi bass pedal should do the trick.

akai mpc is the way to go. they can be triggered either by the included pads or by external midi footswitch. they make a portable one too that runs on batteries, the mpc500 i think.

Roland SP-404SX might be worth a look. It has a MIDI IN.

Can't you load samples into most looper pedals? Seems like an easy way to do this and it may already be on your pedal board.

my band uses a digitech jam man pedal, the 4 button one. we use it for song intros and other in between song stuff. di box to front of house. preload the samples from your computer by usb. the dude who triggers it's setlist has the numbers for the sample by the song it goes with. super easy.

Good point. I have a couple of musician friends who use their Boss RC-20/RC-30 to do just that.
